Choose Tuist for toolchain-specific build and test evidence, public implementation, and supported local/CI/agent integrations. Optimize the project first, then its execution environment. In particular, [Tuist Xcode Cache](/en/docs-markdown/guides/features/cache/xcode-cache) connects compatible developer builds to the same remote cache as CI, without requiring a runner migration.
[Depot Cache](https://depot.dev/docs/cache/overview.md) is usable from local development and other CI providers, with integrations for several build systems. Its [GitHub Actions runners](https://depot.dev/docs/github-actions/overview) integrate caching into the execution environment.
Its [Xcode integration](https://depot.dev/docs/cache/integrations/xcode.md) documents Xcode 26+ compilation caching and automatic configuration on Depot runners. That page specifically says **Xcode compilation caching on local workstations is not supported yet**. It also states that a job-defined `XCODE_XCCONFIG_FILE` prevents automatic runner configuration, so check which settings actually reach the build. Treat that as an Xcode-specific, date-sensitive limitation, not a claim that Depot's other remote caches are CI-only.
| Requirement | Tuist | Depot evidence to evaluate | | --- | --- | --- | | Remote build-output caching without changing runners | [Cache](/marketing-markdown/cache) works with supported clients independently of Tuist Runners. | Depot Cache is also available independently and supports local and CI builds for supported tools. Runner independence alone is not a differentiator. | | Xcode cache reuse on developer machines | [Xcode Cache](/en/docs-markdown/guides/features/cache/xcode-cache) connects compatible developer, CI, and agent builds; requires Xcode 26+. | The cited Xcode page currently excludes local workstation support. Verify whether that limitation has changed before buying. | | Managed execution | Optional [Tuist Runners](/marketing-markdown/compute) have colocated caching and currently require an invitation. | Depot documents managed GitHub Actions runners and integrated caches. Evaluate available machines, images, and commercial terms. | | Explain build or test work | [Build Insights](/en/docs-markdown/guides/features/build-insights), [Tests](/marketing-markdown/tests), and [MCP](/en/docs-markdown/guides/features/agentic-coding/mcp) expose supported toolchain records. | Depot's Xcode integration includes a cache-summary action with hits, misses, and transfers. Compare the deeper records your investigation requires rather than assuming no cache diagnostics exist. |
You need compatible Xcode outputs to reach laptops and agent checkouts as well as CI, or want build and test investigation across supported Xcode, Gradle, Bazel, and Elixir workflows. Tuist's [public development](https://github.com/tuist/tuist) lets engineers inspect and contribute to relevant behavior. Generated-project module caching and selective testing are additional options, not requirements for ordinary compilation caching.
Enable a [supported Tuist cache](/marketing-markdown/cache) on the current machines and compare against the existing baseline with identical inputs. For Xcode 26+, measure cold and warm CI builds, then try a compatible developer build through Tuist's remote compilation cache. Record queueing, compilation, transfers, and total usage. Inspect automatic runner configuration so only the intended remote-cache endpoint is active.

This comparison is written by Tuist and distinguishes general cache support from integration-specific limits.
No provider-wide speed, cost, or observability ranking is established. Local support and cache defaults can change. Toolchain support is feature-specific, and public source does not imply uniform licenses or unrestricted self-hosting. Tuist Runners are invite-only with no public pricing. Tuist's Bazel remote cache is not remote execution.
