Creative Writing Modes
Load `/llm-writing` if it is not already loaded. This skill adds the creative-writing layer for putting prose on the page: story pressure, voice, rhythm, omission, ambiguity, genre promise, and reader simulation.
Use the smallest mode that fits the task. Read only the matching section in `resources/prose-modes.md` unless the prompt explicitly asks for a hybrid pass.
Prose Modes
- **Fresh draft** — new prose from a brief, outline, style files, and canon.
- **Revision** — change an existing draft from author direction or critique.
- **Bridge / connective tissue** — connect scenes, compress time, or shift register.
- **Alternate take** — test a meaningfully different execution of the same beat.
- **Line polish** — improve rhythm, precision, and texture after structure settles.
Genre Resources
Genre is craft guidance, not a prose mode. When genre expectations shape the pass, load `/creative-writing-craft` and the relevant resource under `resources/genre/` there.
Boundary
This is not a planning or review skill. Use `/story-planning` before there is a page to write. Use `/story-review`, `/reader-sim`, and continuity checking when the page needs judgment. Return here when the next step is to write the prose.

Write novels, short stories, and serial fiction with AI that maintains your voice, tracks your continuity, and gets better the more you use it.
Other skills on creative-writing-skills.
- /character-sim
Speak as a specified character from their current knowledge, voice, and emotional state. Use for skill-only workflows that need in-character conversation, voice discovery, or relationship pressure tests.
Open skill - /creative-research
Load when a story needs factual grounding the writer doesn't have: historical detail, cultural texture, domain accuracy, or how other authors handled similar material. Pass the question and story context; returns a sourced report the writer can draw from.
Open skill - /creative-writing-craft
Craft references for writing fiction well: prose, scenes, style, voice, and genre/page-level technique. Load when a writer, critic, or muse needs how-to-write guidance rather than a production mode.
Open skill - /creative-writing-muse
Load when no subagents are available and one agent must plan, draft, critique, research, and capture memory by switching stances.
Open skill - /grill-with-docs
Use when challenging a plan — grills the author against documented decisions and sharpens terminology.
Open skill - /information-hierarchy
Load for large human-facing outputs: reports, docs, multi-section explanations, artifacts. Choose the right form for each beat (prose, diagram, table, mockup) and put the answer first, depth behind it. If the medium allows, use progressive disclosure.
