Core Web Vitals Reference
Current thresholds (as of February 2026):
LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — Loading
| Rating | Threshold | |--------|-----------| | Good | <2.5s | | Needs Improvement | 2.5–4s | | Poor | >4s |
**LCP Subparts:**
- **TTFB** (Time to First Byte): target <800ms
- **Resource Load Delay**: time between TTFB and resource start — target <100ms
- **Resource Load Duration**: download time for LCP resource — target <700ms
- **Element Render Delay**: time from download to paint — target <50ms
INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — Interactivity
| Rating | Threshold | |--------|-----------| | Good | <200ms | | Needs Improvement | 200–500ms | | Poor | >500ms |
**IMPORTANT**: INP replaced FID on March 12, 2024. FID was fully removed from all Chrome tools (CrUX API, PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse) on September 9, 2024. INP is the sole interactivity metric. **Never reference FID in any output.**
CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — Visual Stability
| Rating | Threshold | |--------|-----------| | Good | <0.1 | | Needs Improvement | 0.1–0.25 | | Poor | >0.25 |
Security Headers Checklist
Check these response headers (use `curl -I <url>`):
| Header | Requirement | Impact | |--------|------------|--------| | `Strict-Transport-Security` | `max-age=31536000; includeSubDomains` | HTTPS enforcement | | `X-Content-Type-Options` | `nosniff` | MIME sniffing prevention | | `X-Frame-Options` | `DENY` or `SAMEORIGIN` | Clickjacking prevention | | `Content-Security-Policy` | Present (any valid policy) | XSS prevention | | `Referrer-Policy` | `strict-origin-when-cross-origin` | Privacy | | `Permissions-Policy` | Present | Feature restriction |
Redirect Rules
- Maximum redirect chain length: **3 hops** (Google follows up to 10 but penalizes long chains)
- Use **301** (permanent) for URL changes, not 302 (temporary)
- Check for redirect loops (A→B→A)
- HTTP→HTTPS redirect must exist
AI Crawler Management
Verify robots.txt handles AI crawlers:
| Crawler | Token | Purpose | |---------|-------|---------| | GPTBot | `GPTBot` | OpenAI (ChatGPT training) | | Google-Extended | `Google-Extended` | Gemini / Bard training | | CCBot | `CCBot` | Common Crawl | | anthropic-ai | `anthropic-ai` | Claude training | | Bytespider | `Bytespider` | TikTok / ByteDance | | cohere-ai | `cohere-ai` | Cohere training |
JavaScript Rendering Checklist
| Check | Method | Severity if failed | |-------|--------|--------------------| | Critical content in initial HTML | View source vs rendered DOM | Critical | | `<noscript>` fallback present | Check source | Warning | | Hydration errors | Console log check | Warning | | Lazy-loaded above-fold content | Source inspection | Critical | | Client-side routing (SPA) | Check for `pushState` / hash routing | Warning |
Cross-Skill Delegation
- For detailed hreflang validation, defer to the `seo-hreflang` sub-skill.
- For AI search readiness (GEO), defer to the `seo-geo` sub-skill.
- For voice search, see the Voice Search Optimization section in `seo-technical` skill.
Output Format
Provide a structured report with:
- Pass/fail status per category
- Technical score (0-100) using chain-of-thought scoring from `llm-audit-rubric.md`
- Prioritized issues (Critical → High → Medium → Low)
- Specific recommendations with implementation details

Mobile (viewport, touch targets, responsive) 6. Core Web Vitals (LCP subparts, INP, CLS) 7. Structured Data (detection, validation, deprecated types) 8. JavaScript Rendering (CSR vs SSR, hydration)
