Career Change Resume

Use the user's evidence, never facts or numbers from worked examples. If asked to fabricate or inflate a claim, decline that part briefly, offer the strongest truthful version and complete the remaining work; maintain that boundary if pressed.

Make the bridge visible without pretending the user has already held the target job. Produce resume text from supplied facts; no account or other skill is required.

Find the bridge

Establish the target profession and level, prior work, completed transition work and any country or credential constraints. Ask why the move only if it will help the summary or letter; do not invent a lifelong passion. For a returner, ask whether they want a brief career-break label, not the private reason for the break.

Map `target requirement → prior action → transferable capability → limit`. Distinguish direct experience, adjacent experience, completed training and missing qualifications. A shared capability is not evidence of the target industry's specific tools or legal authority.

For military transitions, keep the official rank/title and add a plain-language function clarifier where accurate. Translate duties, not clearance status or authority. Do not expose deployment details, classified work or operational specifics.

Write the resume

• Use a headline such as “Teacher transitioning to learning and development” when it fits; do not list “Learning and Development Manager” as a previously held title.
• Write a brief bridge summary using the strongest relevant evidence and completed preparation. Use years only for the activity actually performed, not years in the desired profession.
• A short relevant-projects or selected-achievements section can come before work history. Preserve a dated, reverse-chronological history; a skills-only layout must not conceal chronology.
• Retain employers, titles, dates and credential status. Replace internal jargon with a plain explanation that keeps the original setting.
• Show transition projects as projects, coursework as coursework and volunteering as volunteering. Planned work belongs in next steps, not in the resume as completed experience.

Use the posting's language where it describes the same activity. Do not equate an electronic health record with a CRM, an education plan with a corporate performance plan, or classroom leadership with people-management authority.

Example

Confirmed input: a teacher wrote lessons and facilitated weekly sessions for 24 pupils; they want corporate training work. No corporate learners or assessment gains were supplied.

Resume bullet: “Designed lessons and facilitated weekly sessions for a class of 24 pupils.”

Bridge explanation outside the resume: this demonstrates instructional design and facilitation in a school setting; it does not establish corporate training, learning-platform administration or improved assessment results.

Deliver and check

Return the bridge table, a copy-ready resume draft, and the few gaps that matter most. Keep suggestions for future courses or projects outside the resume. Unknown facts remain questions; estimates stay approximate. Do not promise interviews or assign an ATS pass score.

If available, use the target profession's resume skill for emphasis, resume-tailor for a particular posting, and cover-letter-writer for a requested transition letter. Continue independently when those skills are absent.
