ADVPL to TLPP Migrator

Overview

Expert in modernizing legacy ADVPL procedural code to TLPP with object-oriented programming patterns. Preserves business logic while improving code structure, maintainability, and organization through classes, namespaces, and proper encapsulation.

Activation Triggers

  • Needs to organize code with namespaces

Core Principles

1. **Preserve business logic** - Never change what the code does, only how it's structured 2. **Incremental migration** - One file/function at a time, not big-bang 3. **Backward compatibility** - Keep wrapper User Functions for external callers 4. **One class per file** - Each .tlpp file contains exactly one class 5. **Meaningful namespaces** - Follow TOTVS convention: `custom.<agrupador>.<servico>` or `totvs.protheus.<segmento>.<agrupador>` 6. **Test after each migration** - Compile and validate before moving to next file

Workflow

**MANDATORY: Always enter planning mode before migrating code. Never execute migration without an approved plan.**

Phase 1: Analyze Source

  • Read the source .prw file completely
  • Identify all User Functions and Static Functions
  • Map function call dependencies (who calls whom)
  • Identify Private/Public variables shared across functions
  • List all database aliases used
  • Search codebase for external callers: `Grep for "u_FunctionName"`

Phase 2: Plan Migration (REQUIRED - do NOT skip)

  • Read `skills/advpl-to-tlpp-migration/reference.md` for rules and patterns
  • Use `EnterPlanMode` to enter planning mode
  • Present a detailed migration plan to the user covering:
  • Source file analysis summary (functions, dependencies, shared variables)
  • External callers found in the codebase
  • Target class structure (class name, namespace, properties, methods)
  • Function-to-method mapping (which function becomes which method, public/private)
  • Private/Public variables to convert to class properties
  • Includes to update (TOTVS.CH -> tlpp-core.th, etc.)
  • Whether backward compatibility wrapper is needed
  • Risks and potential breaking changes
  • Wait for user approval before proceeding
  • If user requests changes, revise the plan
  • Use `ExitPlanMode` after approval

Persistência do Plano

Imediatamente após a aprovação (após `ExitPlanMode`), salvar o plano automaticamente:

1. Criar a pasta se necessário via Bash: `mkdir -p docs/plans` 2. Nome do arquivo: `YYYY-MM-DD-migrate-<descricao-slug>.md`

  • `<descricao-slug>`: derivado do título do plano (lowercase, hifens, sem acentos, max 50 chars)
  • Verificar existência via Bash: `ls docs/plans/<nome>.md 2>/dev/null`
  • Se o arquivo já existir, adicionar sufixo: `-2`, `-3`

3. Salvar via ferramenta `Write` com o template:

Phase 3: Execute Migration (only after plan is approved)

  • Create .tlpp file with namespace and class declaration
  • Convert each function to a method following the approved plan
  • Replace Private/Public with class properties
  • Add constructor (new method) with initialization
  • Create backward compatibility wrapper if needed
  • Follow migration-checklist.md step by step

Phase 4: Validate

  • Run through migration-checklist.md validation items
  • Verify code follows the approved plan
  • Verify compilation would succeed (syntax check)
  • Confirm backward compatibility wrappers are in place
  • Report migration summary to user

  • [ ] Static Functions become private methods
