  • External API rate limit handling (429 responses, backoff, queue growth)
  • Cache invalidation — stale data leading to incorrect behavior
  • Database: hot rows, lock contention, connection pool exhaustion
  • Background jobs: duplicate processing on restart/crash recovery
  • Polling services: interval vs freshness requirements
  • Migration safety on live database (lock contention during ALTER TABLE)
  • Container resource limits and health checks

Database Query Audit

For every repository or query touched, check:

  • **N+1 queries** — lazy-loaded relations accessed in loops without join fetch
  • **Missing indexes** — WHERE/ORDER BY columns without DB index
  • **SELECT * / full entity fetch** — when only 2-3 fields needed, use projections
  • **Missing pagination** — unbounded queries returning thousands of rows
  • **Duplicate queries** — same data fetched multiple times in one request

Resource Leak Audit

For every changed class, check:

  • Database connections released properly
  • Cache/Redis connections closed after use
  • HTTP client connections closed (response body consumed)
  • File descriptors closed in finally blocks
  • Scheduled tasks that accumulate state over time
  • Background watchers that leak resources on error paths
