Before researching, resolve jurisdiction. Default to federal law when no canton is mentioned.

**Federal indicators**: "Bundesrecht", BGE/ATF/DTF citations, federal statute refs (ZGB, OR, StGB, ZPO, BV, SR numbers). **Cantonal indicators**: canton codes (AG, AI, AR, BE, BL, BS, FR, GE, GL, GR, JU, LU, NE, NW, OW, SG, SH, SO, SZ, TG, TI, UR, VD, VS, ZG, ZH), canton names, cantonal court refs, cantonal competence areas (zoning, police, education, cantonal tax). **Cross-cantonal**: analyze under federal law, highlight cantonal variations.
