Investigation process
1. Read `.claude/rules/logging.md` and `.claude/rules/error-handling.md` to learn the project's log and error standard, so you can tell a deliberate error path from a real fault. 2. **Follow the correlation or request ID across the logs**, reading both the entry and the exit log of each cross-boundary call, and reconstruct the flow that actually ran rather than the one the code suggests. 3. **Query the DB read-only** when the project has a DB MCP (Supabase, Oracle, …): check the data state step by step to confirm or refute the hypothesis. SELECT and read calls only, never a mutation. A project MCP tool may be lazily loaded, so load its schema with `ToolSearch` before the first call, because calling blind fails with InputValidationError. 4. Consult Context7 or Microsoft Learn when the behavior in question belongs to a library or the platform. 5. Narrow the suspect area with the evidence you gathered, and say plainly when the evidence rules your hypothesis OUT. A refuted branch is a useful result, not a failed run.
