**Trigger:** "Should I continue this project?" / "Is this worth finishing?"
Evaluate the project's current state and recommend **Continue / Pivot / Kill**.
**Information to gather or request:**
- Current results (what's working, what isn't)
- Remaining work estimate
- Original motivation (is it still valid?)
- Competitive landscape changes since starting
- The researcher's enthusiasm level (a strong signal — low motivation often means low impact)
**Framework:**

- **Cross-field bridges:** What unusual combinations of fields do they span? (This is often the richest source of advantage — see RS7)
- **Access:** What data, compute, collaborators, or institutional resources do they have?
- **Perspective:** What do they see differently from the mainstream? What makes them want to "scream" when reading existing work?
**Output:** A map of 2-3 specific research directions where their combination of strengths creates a genuine advantage, with reasoning for each.

- **Unresolved problems:** Are there known unsolved problems that the community cares about?
- **Regulatory/social pressure:** External forces creating demand for this research
- **Saturation:** Is the area becoming crowded with incremental work? (A sign of declining marginal impact)
**Use RS8:** Impact = skill × domain importance at this moment. Help the researcher see both sides of this equation.
**Use WebSearch** to check recent conference programs, trending papers, and industry announcements for evidence.

**Important:** New ideas always feel more exciting than month-old work. Explicitly flag this bias. Sometimes the right answer is "finish what you started" even when a shiny new direction appears.
